Objective

The objective of Shoe Talk is to foster interaction and communication between players by finding the owner of a randomly selected shoe and engaging in a conversation based on a predefined question.

Setup

  1. Divide the players into two groups. Each group should stand on opposite sides of the hall or room.
  2. Have each player take off one shoe and place it in a pile with their team’s shoes.
  3. Ensure the piles of shoes are mixed up well.

Game Rules

  1. Shoe Selection: One player from the first team approaches the second team’s shoe pile and picks a random shoe.
  2. Finding the Match: The player who picked the shoe must then find the owner of the shoe within the opposing team.
  3. Conversation Starter: Once the player finds the shoe’s owner, they must ask them a preselected question (see below for suggestions).
  4. Role Swap: After the question is answered, a player from the second team repeats the process with the first team’s shoe pile.
  5. Continuous Play: The game continues with players alternating turns picking shoes and asking questions.

Questions for Conversation

  • What is your favorite hobby and why?
  • Describe your perfect day.
  • What is one thing you can’t live without?
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
  • What is a fun fact about yourself?

Ending the Game

The game can continue for as long as desired or until all players have had a turn finding the owner of a shoe and asking a question. There is no official end to the game; it is designed to promote ongoing interaction and fun.

Tips for a Successful Game

  • Encourage players to ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation going.
  • Rotate the groups periodically to ensure everyone gets to interact with different people.
  • Keep the atmosphere light and fun to encourage openness and engagement.
