Large group forming a circle. One participant stands in the center in a quadripedal position. The participants who make up the circle shake hands and squat. The one in the center will try to get out, through those in the circle, who will move in all directions without letting go to avoid it. Anyone who “lets” it out or lets it escape should go to the center. There can be more than one person in the middle, to make it more fun.

Game Overview

This is an engaging and dynamic group game where participants actively form a circle to work together in preventing a player at the center from escaping. The game promotes cooperative gameplay and active movement, offering entertainment and excitement for players of all ages.

Game Objective

In Crab in a Circle, the participants forming the circle aim to prevent the player in the center from escaping. They move in all directions and maintain a tight grip on each other’s hands, while the player in the center, or the “crab,” tries to break free and escape through the circle.

Game Setup

Group Formation

  • Assemble a large group of participants to create a complete circle with each participant shaking hands with their neighbors.

Gameplay Rules

Positioning

  • One participant takes the center of the circle, adopting a crab-like, quadrupedal position. The remaining participants form the outer circle by shaking hands and squatting.

Preventing Escape

  • The “crab” tries to escape by crawling or maneuvering through the circle. The circle participants must actively cooperate to prevent the crab from escaping, moving in all directions and holding hands tightly.

Avoiding Escapees

  • If the crab successfully escapes by causing someone to let go or break the circle, the responsible participant joins the crab in the center. To increase the fun and challenge, consider having multiple participants in the center.

Rotating Positions

  • After a certain duration or when a participant successfully escapes, the players should rotate positions. This change allows different individuals to experience being in the center or forming the circle.
