All players stand in a large circle. One player is chosen as the detective. Detective leaves the circle as the rest of the players decide who their leader will be. All players in the circle begin to dance in the same way as the leader. Detective returns to the circle and stands in the middle. Leader will change their dance every so often and all players must copy him/her. Detective must identify who the leader is.

Dance Detective is a lively and fun game where one player, the Detective, must identify the leader of the dance circle. The leader changes the dance moves periodically, and all players must follow without giving away the leader’s identity.
Objective
The goal of the game is for the Detective to correctly identify the leader of the dance circle.
Setup
- Players: 6-20 players.
- Age Limit: 10 and above.
- Required Items: Music player (optional, for added fun).
Game Rules
- Setting Up:
- Players form a large circle.
- One player is chosen as the Detective and leaves the circle temporarily.
- Choosing the Leader:
- While the Detective is away, the remaining players decide who will be the Leader.
- The Leader’s role is to create and change dance moves that everyone else must follow.
- Starting the Game:
- The Detective returns and stands in the middle of the circle.
- The Leader starts dancing, and all other players follow the Leader’s dance moves.
- Changing Dance Moves:
- The Leader changes the dance moves periodically.
- All players must follow the new moves without obviously looking at the Leader.
- Detective’s Task:
- The Detective observes the players and tries to identify who the Leader is based on subtle cues and the timing of changes in dance moves.
- The Detective can make a guess after observing for a reasonable amount of time.
- Winning the Game:
- If the Detective correctly identifies the Leader, the Detective wins.
- If the Detective guesses incorrectly, the Leader wins.
- The game can then start a new round with a different Detective.
How to Play
- Preparation:
- Form a circle with all players.
- Choose one player to be the Detective, who then steps away from the circle.
- Choosing the Leader:
- Decide on the Leader while the Detective is away.
- Ensure everyone knows to follow the Leader’s dance moves.
- Starting the Dance:
- The Detective returns and stands in the middle.
- The Leader begins dancing, and everyone else follows.
- During the Game:
- The Leader changes dance moves periodically.
- All players must follow the new moves without revealing the Leader.
- Detective’s Guess:
- The Detective observes and tries to guess who the Leader is.
- The Detective makes their guess when ready.
- Determining the Winner:
- If the Detective correctly identifies the Leader, they win.
