Game Overview

Fruit of the Spirit Relay is an engaging and educational game designed to help participants understand and embody the fruits of the Spirit through interactive challenges. Perfect for groups of 2 to 20 players, this game encourages teamwork, cooperation, and personal growth. Suitable for ages 8 and up, it’s ideal for youth groups, family gatherings, and community events.

Objective

The objective of the game is for teams to successfully complete all challenges at each station, which represent the nine fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The first team to complete all stations wins the relay.

Setup

1. Divide the Group: Split the participants into teams of equal size.
2. Stations: Set up nine stations, each representing a different fruit of the Spirit.
3. Materials: Gather the materials needed for each station’s challenge (see below).

Stations and Challenges

1. Love

Challenge: Participants write a heartfelt note or perform a small act of kindness for another team member. Materials: Paper, pens, small gift items (optional).

2. Joy

Challenge: Teams perform a cheerful song or dance together. Materials: Music player (optional), props for the dance (optional).

3. Peace

Challenge: Participants sit quietly and meditate or practice deep breathing for 2 minutes. Materials: Comfortable seating area, timer.

4. Patience

Challenge: Teams complete a simple puzzle or wait in a “patience line” for a set amount of time. Materials: Puzzles, markers for the line, timer.

5. Kindness

Challenge: Each participant shares a compliment or positive affirmation with another team member. Materials: None required.

6. Goodness

Challenge: Teams work together to collect and donate items for a local charity. Materials: Donation items, boxes or bags for collection.

7. Faithfulness

Challenge: Teams participate in a short trust-building activity, such as a trust fall or blindfolded guidance exercise. Materials: Blindfolds.

8. Gentleness

Challenge: Participants handle fragile items carefully, such as transferring water from one container to another without spilling. Materials: Cups, water, or other fragile items.

9. Self-Control

Challenge: Teams perform an activity that requires self-control, such as balancing on one foot or keeping a balloon in the air without using hands. Materials: Balloons, markers for balancing area.

Rules

1. Team Formation: Divide players into teams of 2 to 5 members each.
2. Station Sequence: Teams must complete the stations in the correct order.
3. Completion: A challenge is considered complete when all team members have successfully participated.
4. Timing: Each team moves to the next station only when they have completed the current challenge.
5. Winning: The first team to finish all stations is the winner.

How to Play

1. Start: Begin with all teams at the starting line.
2. Go!: On the signal, teams move to the first station and begin the challenge.
3. Proceed: After completing each challenge, teams move to the next station in sequence.
4. Finish Line: The game ends when the first team completes the final station.
