Tag game where players must avoid being tagged. Once you’ve been tagged your arms and legs can be used to tag other people, except your bottom must remain on the floor. The last person to be tagged wins!

Game Overview

This exciting strategic tag game involves players evading the “Octopus” to avoid getting tagged. Once tagged, players sit down and become an extension of the Octopus, using their arms and legs to tag others while remaining seated. The game progresses until only one player remains standing, who then emerges as the winner!

Game Rules

Objective

Aim to stay untagged and strive to be the last player standing.

Setup

Playing Area: Choose an open area free from obstacles, such as a gymnasium, large room, or outdoor field.
Players: Engage at least 8 players. There is no upper limit to the number of players.

Roles

Octopus: Select one player to start as the Octopus. This player will stand in the center of the playing area.
Runners: Designate all other players as runners, who will try to dodge the Octopus’s attempts to tag them.

How to Play

Start the Game: The Octopus initiates the game by shouting “Octopus!” This signals the runners to sprint from one end of the playing area to the other.
Tagging: The Octopus attempts to tag runners as they cross the area. Players should tag others with only a light touch.
Sitting Down: Runners who get tagged must sit down immediately at the spot of tagging.
Joining the Octopus: Once seated, tagged players become extensions of the Octopus. They can use their arms and legs to tag other runners, but they must keep their bottoms on the floor.
Winning: The game ends when only one runner remains standing.

Additional Rules

Boundaries: Runners must stay within the designated playing area. Exiting the area counts as being out.
Safety: Ensure that all players tag gently to maintain safety.
No Blocking: Seated players should not use their bodies to block runners; they should only use their arms and legs.

Strategies

Runners: Move swiftly and unpredictably to evade being tagged.
Tagged Players: Work together with other seated players to effectively corner and tag the remaining runners.
