Pictionary is a couch game where we can create cards with scenes, characters, or stories for participants to draw while their team guesses within a time limit.
Overview
Pictionary is an engaging and educational drawing game that brings scenes, characters, and stories to life through art. Players draw cards with themes and depict them visually while their team tries to guess the correct answer within a time limit. The game encourages creativity, teamwork.
Objective
The objective of Pictionary is for players to draw and guess prompts correctly to earn points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

- Pictionary card deck (contains cards with scenes, characters, or stories)
- Drawing pads or whiteboards
- Markers or pens

Setup
- Divide into Teams: Split the players into two or more teams. Each team should have at least two players.
- Prepare Drawing Materials: Ensure each team has access to drawing pads or whiteboards and markers.
- Shuffle the Cards: Shuffle the deck of Pictionary cards and place them in a draw pile.
Game Play
- Select a Drawer: Each team selects a player to be the drawer for the first round. The drawer changes each round.
- Draw a Card: The drawer picks a card from the draw pile without showing it to their team.
- Start the Timer: Set a timer for 60 seconds (or any agreed-upon time limit).
- Draw and Guess: When the timer starts, the drawer begins drawing the scene, character, or story on their card. They cannot use letters, numbers, or verbal clues.
- Guessing: The drawer’s team members try to guess what is being drawn. They can shout out as many guesses as they want within the time limit.
- Correct Guess: If the team guesses correctly within the time limit, they earn a point. If not, they earn no points for that round.
- Rotate Drawers: The next team takes their turn with a new drawer.
Scoring
- Correct Guess: 1 point per correct guess.
- Winning: The team with the most points at the end of a predetermined number of rounds wins the game.
Additional Rules
- No Cheating: Players must not use letters, numbers, or verbal clues while drawing.
- Skip Rule: If the drawer feels the card is too difficult, they can choose to skip it, but the team loses a point for that round.
- Time Limit: Ensure each round is strictly timed to maintain fairness.
Ending the Game
- The game ends after a predetermined number of rounds or a set amount of time.
- The team with the highest score at the end of the game is declared the winner.
Variations
- Speed Round: Reduce the drawing time to 30 seconds for a more challenging game.
- Team Draw: Allow two players to draw simultaneously for their team, increasing the difficulty and fun.
