- Description
- How to play?
The game from Harry Potter except without broomsticks and flying. Have three small goals on each side with a keeper guarding them. Three “chasers” from each team play handball, trying to score on the goals. Two “beaters” from each team can throw a dodgeball at the Chasers. Chaser is temporarily out of the game if they are hit by a dodgeball. Position of seeker is optional – one possibility is for them to chase after a bouncy ball. Be creative and make it work!
Overview
Quidditch, inspired by the iconic sport from the Harry Potter series, brings the magical world of wizardry to life without the need for broomsticks and flying. Teams compete against each other in a fast-paced game involving scoring goals, dodging balls, and strategic gameplay.
Setting Up
- Goal Placement: Set up three small goals on each side of the playing area, with a goalkeeper guarding each goal.
- Ball Selection: Prepare three different types of balls for gameplay, each serving a specific purpose in the game.
- Player Allocation: Divide players into teams, ensuring each team has a balanced number of participants. Assign positions such as chasers, beaters, keepers, and seekers as desired.
Gameplay
- Starting the Game:
- Each team takes their positions on the field, with chasers aiming to score goals, beaters targeting opponents with dodgeballs, keepers defending their team’s goals, and seekers chasing after the bouncy ball (optional).
- The game begins with a signal from the referee.
- Scoring Goals:
- Chasers attempt to score goals by throwing the designated ball into one of the opponent’s goals.
- Keepers defend their team’s goals and try to prevent the opposing team from scoring.
- Dodging Dodgeballs:
- Beaters throw dodgeballs at the opposing team’s chasers to temporarily remove them from the game.
- Chasers hit by a dodgeball must leave the game temporarily before rejoining after a set duration or condition.
- Seeking the Snitch (Optional):
- If including the seeker position, the seeker’s objective is to chase and capture the bouncy ball, simulating the role of the Golden Snitch.
- Capturing the bouncy ball may result in bonus points or end the game, depending on the ruleset.
- Game Progression:
- The game continues with teams alternating between offense and defense, attempting to score goals while preventing the opposing team from doing so.
- Beaters strategically target opponents to gain a tactical advantage, while chasers employ teamwork and agility to score goals.
- Ending the Game:
- The game concludes after a predetermined duration or when a team reaches a set number of points.
- The team with the highest score at the end of the game is declared the winner.
