Game Overview

Reaching Objects is a creative and team-oriented game where players use available materials to build tools to reach and collect objects hanging at a distance. Teams must work together to devise innovative solutions without crossing a designated line. The team that collects the most objects wins. This game encourages problem-solving, teamwork, and ingenuity.

Game Rules

Setting Up

Prepare the Playing Area:

  1. Select a flat, open space where you can hang objects at a distance (e.g., from a tree branch, clothesline, or beam).
  2. Mark a line or place a barrier that players cannot cross.

Organize Teams:

  1. Divide players into teams of at least three members each.
  2. Distribute materials equally among the teams.

Set Up the Objects:

  1. Hang objects at varying distances and heights, ensuring players can reach them with the provided materials but not by hand.

Playing the Game

Building Phase:

  1. Teams have a set amount of time (e.g., 10 minutes) to construct their reaching tools using the provided materials.
  2. Ensure players do not cross the designated line during construction or collection.

Collection Phase:

  1. After the building phase, teams take turns attempting to collect the objects using their constructed tools.
  2. Give each team a set amount of time per turn (e.g., 2 minutes) to collect as many objects as possible.

Scoring:

  1. Teams earn one point for every object they successfully collect and bring back without crossing the line.
  2. Keep track of the points on a scoreboard or paper.

Winning the Game

  • The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
  • In case of a tie, conduct a tiebreaker round with a new set of objects and a shorter building phase.

Variations

Timed Challenge:

  • Limit the total game time and see how many objects teams can collect within that period.

Limited Materials:

  • Restrict the variety or quantity of materials available to increase the challenge.

Safety Precautions

  • Use safe and non-toxic materials for building.
  • Supervise the construction phase to prevent accidents with tools or materials.
  • Securely fasten the hanging objects to avoid them falling and causing injury.
