Game Overview
Scatterball is a lively outdoor game that involves quick reflexes and strategic thinking. Players scatter to avoid being hit by a ball while trying to catch or grab the ball to rejoin the game once they are out. Perfect for large groups, this game ensures everyone stays active and engaged.
Objective
Avoid being hit by the ball while attempting to hit other players. The last player standing wins the game.
Setup
Form a Circle:
Have all players stand in a close circle.
Prepare the Ball:
Make sure the ball is easily throwable and catchable.
How to Play
Starting the Game:
One player throws the ball high into the air and calls out the name of another player.
Scattering:
When you hear the ball is thrown and a name called, scatter in different directions to avoid being hit.
Catching and Stopping:
The player whose name was called quickly catches the ball. Once they catch it, they yell “Stop!” and everyone else immediately stops moving and freezes in place.
Throwing to Hit:
The player with the ball tries to throw it at another player. If they hit a player, that player sits down.
Rejoining the Game:
Sitting players rejoin the game if they catch or grab the ball in future rounds. Once they have the ball, they try to hit another player to get back into the game.
Continuing the Game:
A new player throws the ball and calls out a name. Repeat the steps of scattering, stopping, and throwing to hit.
Winning the Game
The game continues until only one player remains standing. The last player standing wins the game.
