A match shall be played between two teams of not more than 11 players. Each team shall play under a captain, who shall toss a coin for the choice of first innings. The game is like hand ball, but 5 members from each team have to stand on top on the chairs and the other 6 members targets is to make sure that the ball reaches the other team members who are standing on the chairs once they catch the ball they are released and now they can play along with others. The first team to release all their 5 players wins.

Game Setup

  3. Setting Up Chairs: Arrange chairs in a row, with five chairs placed on one side for each team. The players designated to stand on chairs will wait on these chairs until released.

Gameplay Rules

  1. Starting the Game: The team that wins the coin toss chooses whether to start as the batting or fielding team.
  2. Batting Team: The batting team selects five players to stand on the chairs. These players must remain on the chairs until they are released.
  3. Fielding Team: The remaining six players on the batting team become the fielding team. Their objective is to pass the ball to their teammates standing on chairs to release them.
  4. Passing the Ball: The fielding team passes the ball amongst themselves, aiming to reach their teammates standing on chairs. Once a player on a chair catches the ball, they are released from the chair and can join the game.
  5. Joining the Game: Released players join their teammates on the field and can now participate in passing the ball and defending against the opposing team.
  6. Winning the Game: The first team to release all their players standing on chairs wins the game.

Game End

Stoolball typically lasts for about 15 minutes or until one team successfully releases all their players standing on chairs.
