- Description
- How to play?
Get the youth to make a circle with the chairs facing inwards. There needs to be one less chair than there are people. One person stands in the middle of the circle. The people sitting on chairs then have to make eye contact with someone across the circle (they cannot make eye contact with someone next to them). Once they have made definite eye contact, they must get up and quickly swap seats. The person in the middle must also try to find a seat. Everyone does this all at once creating CHAOS!
Overview
Chaos is an energetic and fun game that involves quick thinking, coordination, and a lot of movement. It’s perfect for large groups and can be played both indoors and outdoors.
Objective
The objective of Chaos is to be quick enough to find a seat when the chaos begins. The person left without a seat remains in the center and the game continues.
Setup
- Arrange chairs in a circle with the seats facing inward.
- The number of chairs should be one less than the total number of players.
- One person starts in the middle of the circle without a chair.
How to Play
- Forming the Circle: Players sit on the chairs forming a circle, with one player standing in the middle.
- Making Eye Contact: Players sitting in chairs must make eye contact with another player across the circle (not next to them). Once eye contact is made, they signal readiness to swap seats.
- Creating Chaos:
- When eye contact is made, the players must quickly get up and swap seats with each other.
- The person in the middle must also try to find a seat during this moment of chaos.
- Everyone moves simultaneously, trying to secure a seat.
- Continuing the Game:
- The player who fails to find a seat remains in the middle.
- The game continues with the new person in the middle.
Rules
- No adjacent swapping: Players can only make eye contact with and swap seats with someone who is not next to them.
- Simultaneous Movement: All players involved in a seat swap must move at the same time.
- No Holding Chairs: Players cannot hold onto chairs or otherwise block others from sitting down.
- Safety First: Ensure the area is safe for quick movements to prevent accidents.
Tips for Success
- Be Observant: Quickly identify potential players to swap seats with.
- Be Quick: Swift movements increase your chances of securing a seat.
- Communicate Clearly: Use clear signals for making eye contact and readiness to swap.
Game Duration
- The game continues as long as players wish to keep playing. There is no fixed duration.
Cost per Person
- The game is free to play; the only requirement is having enough chairs.
