Candy Color Icebreaker

Candy Color Icebreaker

Physical Mind Games Icebreakers

  • Players: 5 – 20
  • Duration: 10 - 20 min
  • Average cost: $2

How to play

Pass a bowl of colorful candy around and tell everyone to take as many pieces as they like — but not to eat them yet. Then reveal the catch: each color is a question category (red = something about your family, green = a dream or goal, yellow = an embarrassing story, and so on), and you must answer one question for every piece you took. The greedy handful someone grabbed becomes ten stories. Finish each answer by eating the candy.

Players build a word one letter at a time around the circle — with one rule: never be the player who completes a real word of four or more letters. Each added letter must still be heading toward some real word, though; if you suspect a bluff, challenge — the bluffer takes a letter if they can't name their word, but you take one if they can. Completing a word earns you a letter of G-H-O-S-T, and five letters kills you off. Pure spelling brinkmanship needing zero equipment.

Silent Ball

  • ~$2/person

Silent Ball

The classroom-taming classic. Players spread out (standing or sitting on desks) and toss a soft ball to each other in total silence. You're out if you talk, laugh, drop a catchable throw, or make a genuinely bad throw — as judged by the referee. Eliminated players sit down but stay in the room, watching for anyone who breaks the silence. Play continues until two silent champions remain. Great for cooling down an over-excited group without losing the fun.

Teams compete at stations to win "gold coins". They can "sell" these to the bank. Police walk around the area and can take gold coins from teams if they touch one team member. Teams can also sell gold coins to goldsmiths who are walking around for less money than they would get from the bank, but some of these are undercover police. Teams can use money to buy weapons, which can be used to challenge other teams to steal their gold coins.
