Sneaky Footsteps
Indoor Icebreakers Outdoor Physical Teamwork
- Players: 4 or more
- Duration: 20 - 40 min
- Free to play
- Age: 4+
How to play
In this game, one player is chosen and stands with their back turned away from the group. Everyone else spreads out behind them as far away as possible and attempts to creep up slowly and tap chosen player on the shoulder. However, chosen player can turn around at any moment to look to see who is coming closer. No one can move while chosen player is looking. If the chosen player sees anyone moving, they can point at that person and they have to move to the side until the round is over. If anyone gets close enough to the chosen player to tap them on the shoulder, then the round is over and the person who tapped becomes the new chosen player.

Overview
Sneaky Footsteps is a classic game of stealth and strategy. One player acts as “the chosen player” and the rest of the players attempt to sneak up and tap “the chosen player” on the shoulder without being seen moving. It’s a fun game that encourages awareness and careful movements.
Game Setup
- Players: Minimum of 4 players, no maximum limit.
- Age Limit: Suitable for ages 8 and up.
- Duration: Typically 20-40 minutes, but can vary based on the number of players and rounds.
- Required Items:
- A large, open play area (indoors or outdoors)
How to Play
Preparation:
- Choose a player to be “the chosen player.”
- “The chosen player” stands at one end of the play area with their back turned to the rest of the players.
- All other players start at the opposite end of the play area, as far away from “the chosen player” as possible.
Starting the Game:
- When “the chosen player” is not looking, players creep forward, trying to get close enough to tap “the chosen player” on the shoulder.
- At any moment, “the chosen player” can turn around suddenly to catch players moving.
Gameplay:
- When “the chosen player” turns around, all players must freeze in place.
- If “the chosen player” sees anyone moving, they point at that person. The identified player must move to the side and sit out until the round ends.
- If a player successfully taps “the chosen player” on the shoulder, the round ends, and that player becomes the new “the chosen player.”
Continuing the Game:
- Start a new round with the player who tapped “the chosen player” on the shoulder taking on the role of “the chosen player.”
- Repeat the process for as many rounds as desired.
Rules and Tips
- No Moving: Players must completely freeze when “the chosen player” is looking. Any movement results in being pointed out and sitting out for the rest of the round.
- No Cheating: “The chosen player” must give players enough time to make progress before turning around.
- Strategy: Players can use creative strategies to distract “the chosen player” or move stealthily.
- Encouragement: Encourage players to be observant and strategic in their movements.
Variations
- Obstacle Course: Add obstacles to the play area to increase the challenge for players.
- Night Version: Play the game in a dimly lit area for an added level of difficulty.
- Team Play: Divide players into teams and see which team can get a member to tap “the chosen player” first.

Candy Color Icebreaker
Pass a bowl of colorful candy around and tell everyone to take as many pieces as they like — but not to eat them yet. Then reveal the catch: each color is a question category (red = something about your family, green = a dream or goal, yellow = an embarrassing story, and so on), and you must answer one question for every piece you took. The greedy handful someone grabbed becomes ten stories. Finish each answer by eating the candy.
