How to play

Two teams advance a flying disc up the field purely by passing — the player holding the disc cannot run, only pivot, while teammates cut into space. Score by catching the disc in the end zone. Any dropped, intercepted, or out-of-bounds pass is an instant turnover. Ultimate is famously self-refereed: players call their own fouls and resolve disputes on the field, which makes "spirit of the game" part of the sport itself. A large lawn and a $10 disc is all a group needs.

Spin Chasey

Everyone — including the designated tagger — spins in place while looking up for a set time (about a minute works). The moment time is called, the dizzy tagger tries to catch as many equally dizzy players as possible within the playing area. Everyone caught becomes a tagger for the next round, and the game repeats until no one is left standing free. Play on soft ground, well away from anything with corners.

Capture the Flag 2

The aim of the game is for a team to capture the opposition's flag. A team achieves this by finding the flag and bringing it back to their home base safely. When a player is in their defensive half, they can tag a player from the opposition team. The tagged player must walk back to their team's home base before being "in play" again. If a player is carrying the flag, the opposition team can tag them in either half. Once tagged, the opposition team must return the flag to their base straight away. The tagged player must walk back to their team's base before being back "in play" as per normal. Points decide the winner.
