Willow in the Wind

Willow in the Wind

Teamwork

  • Players: 8 – 12
  • Duration: 10 - 15 min
  • Free to play

How to play

A trust-building circle. One volunteer — the willow — stands in the center, feet planted, body straight, arms crossed over the chest, and eyes closed. The tight circle around them stands in a braced stance, hands ready. The willow leans back and lets the wind pass them gently around and across the circle, always supported by at least two pairs of hands. Rotate so everyone who wants a turn gets one. Teach spotting stance first, keep the circle tight, and never allow joking during a pass — trust is the whole exercise.

Band-Aid Tag

Everyone is "it" at the same time. When you get tagged, you must place a hand — a "band-aid" — on the spot where you were touched, and keep playing. The second tag adds your second hand as another band-aid. On the third tag you are "injured" and must kneel; you are healed and rejoin the game when two free players tag you together and shout "Doctor!" Play continues until the group is exhausted or one untouched champion remains.

Treasure Hunt

Treasure Hunt

Hide a set of objects around your playing area before the group arrives — the more varied the hiding spots, the better. Give teams a list of what's hidden (or riddle-style clues for a harder hunt) and set a time limit. Teams race to find as many items as they can before time runs out; the most items found wins. Assign point values to the hardest-to-find objects to keep every team hunting until the final minute.

Make a Word
  • 6+ players
  • 10 - 20 min
  • ~$2/person

Make a Word

Multiple teams. Scatter letters all over a given area (can be written on paper, Scrabble pieces, etc.). On "go", players from each team race one at a time to collect letters within the time limit. Must retrieve a letter then bring it back and the next player runs. After the collecting time is up, teams must use their collected letters to form a word or words (depending on the game format). Most or longest word wins.
